Ondo Finance has launched its U.S. Dollar Yield Token, USDY, on Tempo, the payments-first Layer 1 incubated by Stripe and Paradigm. The integration is designed to let eligible businesses and applications hold a Treasury-backed, yield-bearing asset while funds sit between payment events.

The idea targets a real inefficiency in global payments: merchant balances, payroll funds, and prefunded remittance liquidity can remain idle before settlement. USDY attempts to make that waiting period productive without requiring every application to build a separate offchain cash-management system.
